Exam System for PhD degree
Exam Timetable
The examination timetable for each academic semester is approved and announced by the faculty before the start of the final examination period. Students are responsible for checking the published schedule and attending all examinations at the specified dates and times.
The assessment methods and examination components for each course are clearly outlined in the approved course specification and study plan.
Assessment System
The total course grade consists of continuous assessment and the final semester examination, with the grade distribution varying according to the course type.
Clinical Courses

Theoretical coursework: 25% of the total course grade

Practical/clinical coursework: 25% of the total course grade
▪
Final semester examination: 50% of the total course grade
The final examination may include one or more of the following assessment methods, as specified in the course description:

Academic Courses

Coursework (theoretical and/or practical): 40% of the total course grade

Final semester examination: 60% of the total course grade

Exam Regulations

Students must obtain at least 60% of the coursework marks to be eligible to sit for the final semester examination.
▪
Students must achieve a minimum of 60% in each component of the final semester examination. Failure in any individual final examination component results in failure in the course, regardless of the overall course grade.
▪
Students who fail a course are required to re-register for the course, attend all required teaching and training activities, and successfully complete all assessment requirements.
▪
When a failed course is repeated successfully, the original F grade remains on the student's academic transcript for record purposes but is excluded from the cumulative GPA calculation. The new grade replaces the previous grade in the GPA calculation.
Conditions for Attending Exams
Students must satisfy the following requirements to be eligible to sit for the final examinations:
Attendance Requirement
Students are required to attend at least 75% of the total contact hours of each course. Students who fail to meet this attendance requirement are not permitted to sit for the final examination and will receive a grade of FW (Forced Withdrawal).
Academic and Clinical Performance
Regular attendance in both theoretical and practical/clinical sessions is mandatory. If a student's practical or clinical performance during the semester is deemed unsatisfactory (less than 60%), the relevant academic department may recommend to the Faculty Council that the student be deprived of the final examination. In such cases, the student must repeat the course and will receive a grade of F (Deprived).
Incomplete Grade (I)
A student may request postponement of one or more final examinations due to exceptional circumstances, approved by the Faculty Council. In such cases:

The student retains the coursework marks earned during the semester.
▪
An Incomplete (I) grade is assigned for the affected course(s).
▪
The student must complete the Remake Incomplete Examination within two weeks of the official release of the semester results.
▪
Failure to complete the examination within the specified period will result in the Incomplete (I) grade being converted to F (Fail).
